Things to Watch out for

The word “the” appears frequently in beginning reading, so give your child plenty of opportunities to see, say, and read it.

Have some fun hunting for the word “the” in today's reading. Ask your child to point to each “the” they find and count how many times it appears.

As you read the poem together, encourage your child to listen to how the words sound and practice reading with expression. Continue having your child point to individual words while reading to strengthen concept of word.
