Things to Watch out for
As your child learns the sight word “blue,” encourage them to look carefully at the letters in the word and practice reading it several times.
Practice recognizing uppercase B and lowercase b, and help your child connect the letter b with its /b/ sound.
When reading sentences, have your child point to each word as they say it. This helps develop concept of word — understanding that the words we say correspond to individual printed words on the page.
Pictures can help children understand what they are reading, but encourage your child to look at the letters and words when it's time to read the print.
