The Letter I has a confusing font too! Sometimes the Upper case I has a top and a bottom and other times it looks like a lower case L. Explicitly teach this concept! Use the alphabet pages and show your students the differences. You can look in books and find how it is written different ways. This is tricky -point it out and practice reading!
